I just wish mine would stop messing up! Last night I was trying to take a photo and when I push the button, you know to snap the picture, it wouldnt do anything but sitt here and make this noise that kind of sounds like a tape rewinding... weird. Finally it took the picture, and it let me snap a few more in fast succession but then it did that noise again and stopped taking pics. WTH?!!!

Maybe this is a good excuse to get DH to let me get a new camera... I hate that though because with the extra lense and shipping costs too when I bought this one I paid nearly $800 total

i have a 28mm that i love - it was in the $300 range - i can't afford L glass. as well for xmas dh bought me an 85 mm that just plain rocks outdoors!

Wow Celeste - I didn't think that anyone else had a 28mm! I love mine and my 85mm and my 50mm - with those I feel like my lens pack is full. Don't know about L glass, kinda unaffordable on my budget, and anything other than a prime is just not for me.

Amber--I *think* that noise you're talking about is the camera/lens trying to focus. Have you tried changing the focus mode? Or your focus point?

Again, redundantly, I love my 50mm 1.4 too. It is the most fabulous thing ever. I liked my photos before, but I looooooooved them after I got that lens. And I agree, the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my nikon BLOWS big time. I was so disenchanted with having a dslr until I bought my first "extra" lens.

I have a zoomy lens....so I think I would like to have a 35mm next...one day. Mama's got to stop spending on camera gear. She just got a speed light too!

Erin, I've checked everything. Its now just dead, it wont take a picture at all. My DH bought me a new camera today because I am so upset. I got the Nikon D5100. I love it! But it's practically like my D40, except I guess the megapixels are better.
