Scrapper Spotlight | Chantal Philippe

I’m excited to kick off the Scrapper Spotlight series with the fabulous Chantal, aka ChantalK. Not only does she have a wonderful design sense, but her photos are always stunning as well. Clearly she knows her way around a camera! Here’s a little snippet into her creative world…

Q: WHY do you scrap?
A: I have too many pictures; some packed up in boxes and others just kickin’ around in albums and I never go through them and what a waste of money and space! When I discovered digi scrapbooking, a whole new world opened up for me. Remember those comments written at the back of that photo print from perhaps your grandmother? Scrapbooking to me is just an extension of that and the idea of turning a boring old photo album into something interesting to look at is so appealing! I love making my memories more…memorable.

Q: When did you start scrapbooking?
A: I started digital scrapbooking back in 2008 after giving birth to my daughter. I initially would get my stuff from blogs offering free elements and papers, but quickly decided it was time to invest some money on some gorgeous items! I still have that first layout I ever did and trust me, it’s a sight for sore eyes, but what a great thing to have… I’ve made enormous progress throughout the years.

Q: Paper or Digi?
A: Digi all the way! I do have boxes filled with hybrid stuff, but I rarely use them… I get too frustrated!

Q: I can’t scrap without _____.
A: I can’t scrap without patterned papers and the more the merrier. I’m quite hooked on anything plaid or checkered right now.

Q: What’s your “theme song”?
A: The Dog Days are Over by Florence + the Machine

Q: I bet you didn’t know _____.
A: I only got my driver’s license 3 1/2 years ago. I was 2 weeks away from giving birth and needed to ensure I could get around after without the assistance of anyone. I hate depending on others.

Q: Favorite scrap store?
A: The Lilypad and Catscrap.
