Scrapper Spotlight | Nikki Hawkins

Today’s scrapper in the spotlight is someone I’ve admired for a long time. Her pages are always overflowing with beautiful papers and elements all perfectly placed. I know you’ll find her work as inspiring as I do… welcome Nikki Hawkins, aka nikkiARNwife!

Q: WHY do you scrap?
A: The main reason I scrap is because I want my children to know what thoughts and feelings I had as they were growing up. I want to preserve their childhood for them and give them my memories. But it’s also a way I can relax and take my mind of the day to day…a kind of “escape from reality” for a bit while I make pretty things.

Q: When did you start scrapbooking?
A: I started scrapping in 2005 soon after my son was born. I actually did exactly one paper page and didn’t care for it. It was too messy and expensive and I just didn’t have the patience or time with a new baby. Somehow or another I stumbled onto digital scrapbooking back in it’s very early days and was hooked.

Q: Paper or Digi?
A: Definitely digi. I completely admire paper scrapbooking and use it for my own inspiration very often, but I’m digi all the way. I love how organized and neat digi is with all my supplies tucked away in their own folder on my hard drive. Not to mention ctrl-z. I love ctrl-z. (That’s the UNDO button for you non-digi peeps!)

Q: I can’t scrap without _____.
A: Patterned papers. Every now and then I’ll impulsively buy a kit because of the unique elements and then it will only have 5 or 6 neutral papers and I just never can do anything with it. I need bright bold patterned papers.

Q: What’s your “theme song”?
A: Little Moments by Brad Paisley

Q: I bet you didn’t know _____.
A: I have 2061 layouts in my most complete online gallery and I’ve only actually printed 1/3 of those. I’m the worst procrastinator when it comes to printing. I have all my layouts backed up to 3 hard drives and onto DVD’s but as far as getting them into albums I’m so far behind I’m not sure I’ll ever catch up.
