Have you been having one of those days? Those days when you want to stop — for just ten seconds — to think, to take a deep breath, to flip through the glossy pages of a magazine or neglected book, to chat with a friend, or even maybe to just relax? You want to, but it seems that you don’t even have the time to take those ten seconds because you are behind on everything and life is moving at warp speed. But seriously? Just do it. Take those ten seconds. Or ten minutes. I will give you a permission slip if you need one. Seriously. Just do it.

Just do it? Is it really that simple? Probably. Nike popularized the phrase “Just Do It” with their ad campaign back in 1988 (according to Wikipedia). It has survived all of these years, and it still resonates with people. It is one of those messages that can inspire you to do something different with your life. In a larger view, it is about not making excuses or letting fear take over, and in a micro view it can be something as simple as stopping to take a breath and noticing the world around you.

People have always found inspiration from messages and quotes (even poetry and lyrics), and I think that they can definitely inspire creativity. The great thing about the internet/technology age is that quotes and inspiring messages are so easy to find and share, and within seconds, they can impact hundreds or thousands of people. The power of positive words. *sigh*

Obviously if you find some inspiring or heartfelt message, it would be great to use it on a scrapbook page (or card). Or maybe you could make a little mini book as a pick-me-up for yourself (or someone else) by putting together a bunch of your favorite messages/sayings.

I thought I’d share some messages I’ve seen lately that have given me inspiration. Maybe they will spark something in you as well. I wish I would have captured some great examples of scrapbook layouts using inspiring messages, but I honestly didn’t think about it until I was writing this (duh!). Maybe that will be a future post! Maybe you have a layout that you have created that you’d like to link us up to, or maybe you have a quote you’d like to share in the comments. That would be great. I’m a total sucker for an inspiring message.
