What I’m Loving: Simplicity
What I’m loving… simplicity.
Summer is winding down in the Northern Hemisphere. All over the States, kids are starting back to school. Labor Day is right before us, and a 3-day weekend is just what feels right to close out the slow summer days and star-filled nights. I’m not quite ready to give up on summer just yet. We didn’t take a vacation, go camping, have the big backyard BBQ, or have a regular holiday weekend at all this year. I’m not quite ready for the crisp air of fall or for the leaves to change color and drift clumsily from the trees. As much as I don’t want the summer to end, I do like the idea of trips to the library, cozy fireplaces and holidays on the horizon… I’d like just a little bit more summer.
But with the onset of Fall and the cooler weather, there are always indoor projects to start! Lately, I’ve been inspired by many different ideas. The great majority of them center around simplicity and clean lines. I am in the mood to de-clutter. To strive for a new look. I am in love with the industrial, the typographic, the minimalist. But am I able to pull it off? That is an entirely different story. I may just have to daydream about it for awhile longer and share my latest loves with you. The thing I think is interesting is that it is a style or interest that seems to spread across all different areas of life: gifts, art, decor, projects and scrapbook layouts.
via Victoria Wagner on Pinterest — not an actual link, but instructions state “Make these for winter! or for friends as Christmas gifts: Poly-fleece filled with rice. Just pop these little cuties in the microwave for 30 seconds and then slip them into coat pockets to keep hands warm for up to an hour.”
And last, but not least, two gorgeous layouts that embrace the simplistic style I wish I could emulate.
And this weekend, Peeps & Milo has a little something showing up in the store that your inner minimalist will embrace. I only wish I could show it to you now, but since I can’t, I can just promise that it is worth the wait.
Do you have a favorite style you are loving right now? What is inspiring you? What will you do with that inspiration?
