Each month we plan to throw out a few topics/ideas/suggestions for those of you (like me) who sometimes need a nudge or a bit of inspiration to get a page started. We'll offer up prompts in the following categories: element, technique, quote, question, list and color.

Feel free to pick and choose what applies to you and leave what doesn't. And you don't ever have to use any of the prompts. It is entirely up to you. We don't want to have people feel restricted by topics/prompts that don't inspire them.

  • Element - Use circles on your page. They can be different color, size, etc. They can be used as a symbol or just graphic interest.

  • Technique - Use paint on your page. Build it up in layers as a background. Cover text/images with it. Blend. Use it as a bold element on its own. Play with different brushes for a variety of textures.

  • Quote - "If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try." -- Seth Godin You can use it on your page or just as a jumping off point. Think about a page where you regret not trying something because you were afraid. Or about a fear you conquered. Or something you might do in the future.

  • Question - What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

  • List - Favorite summer memories

  • Color Swatch - Pick one or two, all or none. It is up to you.

If you want to share your interpretation of the prompts, please do so. And if you have an idea for a future prompt, send me a PM and it might just show up in the rotation!
