    Trick or treat!

Have you seen all of those spooky kits in the store this week???

All of that ghoulish stuff has me wondering if you're ready for Halloween? Have you done any decorating? What are you kids going to be? Are you going to dress up??? Share some pics!

I'm going to a big party at my local pub and I'm going to be Doctor Who!!! I got a bowtie, fez, sonic screwdriver and a tweed jacket. I'm going to test out some of this getup at Comic Con this weekend! I am such a happy nerd.

Penny was going to be Yoda, but the costume is too big - and I can't return it! So bummed! The pet parade is on Sunday so we can't go anyway. I hope to find some other kind of doggy party I can take her too. I love to see the kids dressed up.

My nephew Derek is going to be Spider-Man. My niece Taylor is going to be Cleo De Nile from Monster High and Kylie is going to be a red ninja. (That Spidey costume was hers!)

We're not doing the trick-or-treating thing this year. Two years ago, we went to the mall and it was a nightmare. Last year we went to the downtown event and it was a nightmare. So instead, DD is planning a little Halloween party for Kennedy and my nephew. We're going to watch Coraline (hopefully it won't scare them). Kennedy is going to be a shark. This is a pic of the costume we got him.

Jessica is dressing up as Ursula (from the Little Mermaid), and I'm trying to figure out how to be a mermaid without buying a costume. We were joking around about Tim being King Triton(?) but he didn't want to go shirtless.

The only one that even might dress up in my family is my college daughter. She'll be in Miami so all I'll see is photos if she does.

Here in Brazil we don't have a really strong halloween tradition, but it's still one of my favourite days of the year!
However, in the past couple of years I've started a tradition of decorating my ENTIRE home for the event!
Every year I made a small Party for my friends and kids , but now the girls grew up and no longer want to dress up or celebrate,
so probably I'm not dressing up this year...I'll watch scary movies drinking hot chocolate!

Here's an old pic from me in one of my Halloween Parties:

I decorated on Oct 1st, and so far the eldest is a flapper this year and the youngest is a witch

B is going as a pirate, I never had time to do her costume, so I bought her one today. She hated it and ended up picking a boy one at target today.

I don't really like Halloween all that much, mostly because I hate the cost involved in getting the kids ready just to go get a whole ton of sugar. But, we will be going to our church's halloween party where they do a bunch of games and contests, get prizes and a bag of candy. My boys have each got a costume so far - Carter is going as a gladiator (got the costume at the dollar store), Gavin is going as Yoda (goodwill costume), and Braden a Power Ranger (also goodwill). The girls haven't found anything yet, but hopefully we will soon. last year I spent about 200 dollars on costumes and I told them this year we are going goodwill, dollar store, or make your own. It is working so far - what we have is really cute.

We sort of did a make your own costume last year and it turned out so cute. I bought fake fur for cheap and sewed it through holes in an old shirt and jeans for my youngest and then we just bought a mask...viola, werewolf! This year he picked out a cheap zombie costume...kinda freaks me out LOL Haven't decided if I am dressing up this year or not...depends on if I can pull something together.

One of the cheapest and cutest costumes I ever did was for my dd when she was about 5...she was a bubble bath

$1 laundry basket, $1 shower cap, $1 bag of balloons, 4 styrofoam balls (one had fallen off in the pic)
