A Behind The Scenes Look!
Hi Everyone! It’s Patti here and I thought it would be fun to do a little Q and A with the two people who have brought One Story Down to life and made it into what it is today. Kinda like the ‘beauty, brains and brain’, if you will, behind the scenes.
Lauren Reid and her hubby, I call Mr. Reid…. cause I’m not sure what his first name is, LOL! sat in the hot seat and answered a few tidbits I threw at them.
1. How long did you have the ‘vision’ for One Story Down before you implemented this great community?
I started OSD as an inspiration blog in September 2011, without plans of expanding it to a shop at that point.
2. How did you come up with the name and design/concept? Was there any one person, place or thing that inspired you?
I love double entendre’s… phrases with two meanings. I knew I wanted the name to have something to do with “stories” since isn’t that what scrapping is all about? I just kept playing around with different ideas until One Story Down popped into my head and I knew it was “the one”.
3. How many hours a week would you say that you spend working behind the scenes, apart from your designing?
My butt has now taken on the shape of my chair… does that give you any indication?!
4. What has been your greatest obstacle in bringing this dream alive and maintaining success?
Having enough hours in the day and learning new software. I could use a day at least twice as long!
5. Do you both always see eye to eye in the decision making processes or who gets the ‘final’ say?
LOL! Not always. I see things from a scrapbooking and design point of view and DH sees it from a business point of view. I get the final say…. did you really have to ask?!
6. Are there other projects you guys have worked on together (besides the baby-making kind)??
Nothing as consuming as OSD.
7. If you could go back and change something along the way what would it be?
Hmmm… I can’t really think of anything. We’ve been really fortunate to have not hit a lot of issues. I’m also a firm believer that life is about the journey… so going from A to Z without all the trials of B and C and D…. doesn’t build much character, does it?
8. What has been your favourite kit, collab that you’ve designed?
My favorite collab will forever be Kitchy Kamera with Valorie Wibbens. It was our first project together and the beginning of an amazing friendship! <3 For regular kits… I don’t know, it’s always changing as I make new stuff.
9. Please tell us about one of your ‘quirky’ habits!
I’m a big hair twirler… is that “quirky”?
10. If there is one thing you could change about the digi community via your site, what would that be?
Nothing other than building it up. We’re so lucky to have an amazing team and a wonder group of fans and customers who make our community feel so comfortable and home-y. I look forward to watching our little baby grow!
Yes, I have to say that OSD has become an addiction to me. If you haven’t stopped by the forum, you don’t know what you are missing. Pop in and say hello! I promise you, you’ll be glad you did.
Cheers!!
Patti
