This week is all about accepting yourself for who you are and loving yourself.
You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy.

So feel free to post here why you love yourself and take time this week to jot down 10 reasons why you are just plain awesome!!!

I couldn’t settle on an inspirational quote for this week at first, but in doing so I ended up looking at some of my favourite passages from author Neil Gaiman’s books. I was tempted to post one of those, but then I found this. It might be more of a new year thing, but hey, it’s the first of the month. Wishing you all some magic & good madness this week, and in the spirit of April Fools’ Day, here’s to surprises.
I take photos, write, blog, and scrapbook. I also love dogs, natural light, good beer, Harry Potter, and the Oxford comma.

Link to graphic
A few weeks ago, I saw a graphic on Pinterest that really struck a chord with me. It stems from an article by blogger Gabrielle Blair aka Design Mom about
Work Life Balance. I enjoyed the posts about balancing your home life with work, making time for yourself, embracing who you are and not comparing yourself with others. But that’s not what resonated with me when I saw the graphic.
It was right about the time of my most recent birthday. It’s not one with a zero but I can see the next big one looming fast. So I think, “Am I upset about my age?” because so many people get sad about getting older. After really considering it, I decided I’m not upset. I mean, I’m not really crazy about the wrinkles around my eyes and when the heck did I get my grandmother’s eyelids (you know, where the skin moves when you put on eye makeup) and let’s not even talk about the age spots on my arms! I consider those to be badges of honor. It takes time to acquire wisdom to go with your intelligence, time to cultivate tolerance to go with expressing your opinion, time to make peace with who you are on the inside to go with what you see in the mirror. So I will not begrudge myself having taken the time to be who I am right now. I will embrace this season of my life.

Kari here with our first ever Words of the Week….a little quote to live by.
“Don’t try to smile for others sake. In all honesty, it’s just as good as lying. Honesty with yourself is the only thing that will bring you any happiness ever. Let your emotions out. Empty yourself of all things that you need to. Then, and only then will you be able to find peace (after all the other things cluttering it are gone). Cry a river. Think a mountain. Let your soul go from heaven to hell and back. Do all things and want nothing. Then and only then will you have everything. “
