Found in Translation | 4/24

Hello! This is Sue (AKA MSDragonfly) bringing you a little piece called “Found in Translation“. I’ve been scouring the internet for websites or graphics to use as inspiration. I’ve been surprised where I have found ideas in the past, and that’s kinda’ the point of this feature - it’s about finding inspiration in unconventional places and translating it onto a page. (There may or may not also be a freebie at the bottom, as well. Ok, ok, there IS freebie!)
After wandering around the ‘net for a while, I finally came upon a great list of the “50 Coolest Book Covers” at ShortList.com and there was NO shortage of ideas there! Although several of these covers are now “earmarked” in my folder for future ideas, the book cover that immediately jumped out to me actually contained the image of a vinyl album. Go figure!
So, here is the the list highlighting the cover I chose.
I loved the consentric circles, and immediately saw the layout in my head! I wanted a kit with some dark and bold colors, so I used Two More Days‘ “Celebrate Today” kit (as well as a flower or two to match from her Pocket Stuffers series). I also used two of Brandi Sutherlin Designs‘ fonts: Twiggy Sticks and The Outliners (FB freebie)
Is it identical? Nah! But it the original image was just the spark!
So? Where do YOU find unconventional inspiration? How far do you stretch yourself? Do you stretch only as far as paper scrapping galleries, perhaps, or do you jump outside of the box and really reach for it? Comment below and share with us what inspires you!
And before you go, here’s a freebie I whipped up for you from my page - a vinyl album template to play with! If you use it, link us up below so we can show you some love!
So, now it’s your turn! Go out there and find your inspiration and translate it in a way that makes you happy! And don’t be intimidated if that inspiration comes from somewhere different: your favorite book, a movie poster, or even a piece of jewelry!
The number one rule is always to HAVE FUN!
