So I saw this fun/quirky project today, and thought I’d share in case any of you are up to the challenge. I thought that it was perfect for budding (or pro) photographers, people who may be creative in the kitchen, or scrapbookers that document life.

It is called “The Meal” and put on by the Sketchbook Project (formerly Arthouse Co-op).

The idea is to share and document a global meal/snack and to raise awareness about hunger.

A blurb from the Sketchbook Project:

One moment. One meal. One photograph. Let’s eat.

Last year over 4,000 people from around the

globe sat down together to share a meal. Not only did we help to raise awareness about world hunger, but we also shared a community experience the Art House way. Join us this year on February 22nd for the 2nd annual The Meal. Whether it’s breakfast in LA or a midnight snack in Beijing, let’s take a moment from our hectic lives and sha

re it with strangers around the world. Snap a photo of yourself and your meal tweet it @arthouse or email us at [email protected].

Please use #themeal when post about your photo!

Nothing makes us feel connected quite like

sharing a meal together. On February 22nd at 12pm Eastern Standard Time, thousands of strangers from around the world will sit down for a bite in unison and capture a shared experience at the exact same time. Take a photograph of yourself with your meal and mail it back to us. These simultaneous snapshots – self-portraits of people and their foods – will then be tweeted and posted online for the world to share. Our aim is to inspire a feeling of community across geographic and cultural boundaries. So wherever you may be on February 22nd at 12pm, keep your camera handy and something delicious nearby – and remember that thousands of strangers, both near and far, are sharing that meal with you.
