For today’s Everyday Inspiration, I wanted to talk a little about the idea to scrap songs or poems.

There are so many songs that have hold on us at different times in our lives, it is only natural for us to want to memorialize them in our pages. Sometimes I feel like we need to have soundtracks for our lives much like they have in movies.

Poems are a whole other issue. Poems are tough. Some people avoid them, some read them, and some even write them. I love to read a good poem and totally believe that they can save us and make our world better. I even took a college course once because the course description talked about how poetry can save the world. Turns out the class wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but I still believe poetry can save the world, and someday I will teach my own class about how it can happen.

We may not save the world today, with the poems and lyrics on a scrapbook page, but it is something to think about and try. Got a song stuck in your head? Scrap it. Find a lyric that speaks to your soul? Scrap it. Run across a poem that moves you when you read it? Scrap it. Write a poem that spills your soul? Scrap it.
