Now for this month’s prompts.

Feel free to pick and choose what applies to you and leave what doesn’t. And you don’t ever have to use any of the prompts. It is entirely up to you. We don’t want to have people feel restricted by topics/prompts that don’t inspire them.

  • Element: Lines - Use stripes, stitches, lined doodles
  • Technique: Texture — how many different textures can you use on a page?
-For digi journalers, add depth by varying opacity, blends, layer types and shadows. Find fiber or fabric elements that have different textures. Use paint and brushes. Use gesso. “Scratch” texture into your photos with a brush.
-For physical journalers, try to use a variety of textures/materials. Press tools/elements into wet paint/medium, adhere different textured papers or elements, add sand/glitter/dirt onto your page. Scratch texture onto a photo. Use pastels or watercolors.
  • Quote: A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything. — Irish Proverb
  • Question: What made today worthwhile?
  • List: Things that comfort you

Some products from the OSD shelves to help get you started…

There are a lot of great overlays/brushes/stamps and stuff in the Art Journaling section of the store. You can adjust colors or add your own in that palette.

Also, check out the stuff from the June Block Party. The colors in the BP are a bit stronger/more vivid, but there is some good stuff in there. The July BP also has some great stuff and similar colors.

And if you wanted to take the palette to another level, this is an example of those colors pushed to a high energy form.

Please feel free to share your interpretation of the prompts andyour pages. And if you have an idea for a future prompt, swatch or technique, send me a PM and it might just show up in the rotation!
